Located on Oakland’s Piedmont Avenue, Cato’s Ale House is everything one would expect from a neighborhood pub. We always make an effort to source local produce and meat whenever possible. Try our juicy half pound burgers, hand tossed made-to-order pizza, fresh healthy salads, or inspired creative sandwiches. We use Acme bread delivered daily, Mary’s free range Chicken, and 5 dot Ranch beef. Every order is made fresh, right away, for each customer. They've got a good beer selection, decent food (last I tried it) and a good overall vibe.

Our Food
It can be a little dark given the lighting and dark wood interior, but the front area overlooking Piedmont Avenue is a great place to spend some time with a beer. In addition to our clean, well maintained 38 draught craft taps, we offer a wide selection of wines and cocktails, ensuring we have something to please everyone. Both locations will feature food vendors, slushies, micheladas, Hard Seltzer Cocktails, live mariachis, games and special beer releases. Sounds like they have jazz and local acts for live music on a regular basis - we went on a Wednesday and Bob Scott Trio was playing. Nice guys too when we had a chance to chat in between sets.Chicken Sammie buffalo style was pretty good - large though, went home with leftovers! Featuring 23 lines of world class craft beer, house made burgers, salads, pizza, sandwiches and daily specials. Whether you’re just stopping by the bar for a pint or bringing the whole family in for lunch, whoever you are, we’re happy to have you and make you feel at home.

Great location and atmosphere, and a nice beer selection. The food is rather average and I've been disappointed with everything I've ordered. The burger was over cooked, the pizza was meh though everyone has their preferences, and the nachos were boring.
